The scores are in and counted and we can now announce the winners for the Ashbourne & District branch of CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020!
In first place an establishment that has reawakened over the last 12 months to become the quintisential country pub. Large real open fires, welcoming atmosphere and beer served from the cellar (no pumps here!).
We are pleased to announce The Barley Mow Inn at Kirk Ireton is the winner of the Pub of the Year 2020!
In second place is a craft bar still relatively new to Ashbourne and who have already received Pub of the Season awards and achieved runner up in the Pub of the Year 2019 awards.
We are proud to announce that Maison du Biere have been awarded Highly Commended in the face of strong competition.

The Barley Mow Inn deserves a place alongside such famous locals as The Dolphin in Derby, The Yew Tree Inn at Cauldon Low and Coopers Tavern, Burton on Trent.
Nestled in the quiet Derbyshire village of Kirk Ireton, only 15 minutes from Ashbourne, this unspoilt and Grade II listed 17th Century Inn is worth searching for. It's rare to find a traditional pub these days, where polite chat between people who minutes before were complete strangers replaces quiz and gambling machines and where the familiar pub music is replaced by the sound of a crackling fire and wooden furniture on stone floors.

On Thursday morning, 10th October, at the Cromford Hill depot of Aquabox*, two members of the organising committee of Ashbourne CAMRA's 2019 Beer & Cider Festival presented a cheque for £453.15 to two of the Wirksworth-based charity's trustees. Festival organiser Graham Burke and treasurer Colin Terry were given a tour of the depot by Ashbourne CAMRA member John Chamberlin, who also volunteers at Aquabox each week as part of the team who assemble their 'Aquafilter Family Units'.
